Our story dates back to 1966 when my parents got married and my father immediately joined the United States Air Force. That was during the Vietnam Era and his first duty station was the island of Guam. Having never traveled anywhere before and despite the circumstances, he fell in love with the island. After he returned home from the war, he would speak of his time on the island. Those talks, along with my mother’s eagerness to also see the world, led them to take international trips for the next 55 years but their first trips were to the islands. Bahamas, Bermuda, Haiti, Barbados, Jamaica, Puerto Rico to name a few. Then they began to take my brother and I and that is where I developed my own love affair with the islands.

 

As soon as I was old enough, and could afford it, I too would make trips the islands. Hawaii, Aruba, Anguilla, St Marten, and others. The feeling I got being there was always one of nature, harmony, and peace. The sounds, the smells, the people were and still are a sweet indulgence. The whole vibe was incredible! My girlfriend at the time, who is now my wife, would travel with me and share in the experience. We noticed that when we returned home, friends and family would always ask “how was your trip?” We’d always answer, “it was great!” But that didn’t grasp the experience, the feeling, the Vibe!

It was then I started trying to find a way to capture the food, the people, the emotion of our time in the islands to share with people when they asked about our trip. After years of trial and error, development, and my wife’s supervision :) we bring you Island Vibe!
